Now let's look at how to use these values to do some real work. Let's look at how to calculate the age of an item (regular old age) and how to calculate the age of an item based on a date range. The first function we'll look at is Aging which calculates the age of a serial number. The function is pretty self-explanatory, but there is one more important item to add to the discussion - formatting. In this case the Format list has a function called Age. This function will convert the serial number to the correct format, from a date or a date-time serial number to a valid date format. The date formats are: day, day-month-year; month, month-day-year; and year, year-month-day. The Format list also has a function called DateSerial. This function uses the formatting settings to convert the date and time serial numbers to a valid format.
Any serial number that is created above any equipment that is lower in the assembly hierarchy will have the equipment as the superior equipment. If you change the OIS2 setting to 'Service', then the serial number will be created for lower assemblies in the hierarchy. This is because equipment usually can have only one superior equipment. You could also see the equipment listed as auto under OIS2. This means that the equipment is automatically created. This field is likely only important to assembly information systems.
At this point in the tutorial we've covered how to create the serial numbers and how to interpret them. We've also explained how to format them, give them a date number format and even apply time zone offsets to them. We've also covered how to deal with negative dates and times.
The serial number functionality allows us to manage serialized stock keeping. Serial number is a numeric or alpha-numeric number given to an individual item of a material in addition to the material number and differentiates the item from all other items of the material.
When the serial number validation is set, the system checks for the Serial number status accordingly before any goods movement. If a component has been issued already against a production order and if thesame serial number is provided for a subsequent order the system does the validation. Serial number status should be EQ ESTO and NE (AVLB or INAC or DLFL).
The following is a list of Autopilot usage scenarios, and how we use them. We cover them in much more detail later, for now just keep in mind that all of these are used, and a device's hardware identifier, serial number, or SNRO/SNRP have a purpose.
The example below produces the same serial number as the serial number in the first record of the sample data. The DATEVALUE function returns 39448, and the DATETIMEVALUE function returns 21307.
In the example shown here, the DATEVALUE formula returns the same serial number as the SEQ function. In a similar way, the DATETIMEVALUE formula returns the same serial number as the DATE function. 827ec27edc
