The Catechism was prepared in the form of a more or less direct translation into the language(s) of the countries concerned. The aim was, however, to present it in a way which would allow it to be understood in all the places where the Church has her services and missions.
Many of the faithful, for their own pastoral needs, have had recourse to the Catechism in the edition already mentioned, which replaces the previous Catechism of the Catholic Church.
At the same time, the bishops of the Catholic Church have taken the greatest care to have the Catechism widely diffused in their respective territories, either as a single edition, or as set of different editions: in Brazil, for example, in the diocese of São Paulo , or in the diocese of Rome .
