alt.sex.stories is a Usenet newsgroup for erotic stories created on May 7, 1992, by Tim Pierce as an alternative to pre-existing alt erotica newsgroups.[1][better source needed] The group was initially unmoderated, a feature that was not shared by some of the other Usenet or altnet newsgroups. This feature allowed for greater user freedom.
In early 1997 a moderated version of alt.sex.stories was created due to an increasing number of posts by "various pay services, scam artists, and bots".[citation needed] This moderated newsgroup (ASSM) has always operated by cross-posting all approved stories to alt.sex.stories, and is not simply a filtered version of the unmoderated group, rather, all stories posted to ASSM were specifically submitted there.
Due to competition from web-based erotica sites and communities, the volume of stories posted to ASSM (and thus to alt.sex.stories) had dropped considerably by 2006, although the group continued to be actively moderated until July 2017[2] and the asstr.org website[3]

The moderators would reject the cruder porn which lacked any literary merit, and would even reject submissions for bad spelling and grammar.Perhaps the world would be a better place had it stayed like that, but in May 1992 Alt.sex.stories and alt.sex.stories.d were created for the posting and discussion of any type of sex stories. Various subgroups would be created (such as for gay or bondage stories), and eventually spam would force the creation of a moderated group in alt.sex.stories.moderated.Due to the nature of Usenet, it's virtually impossible to determine the real popularity of the group. Some informal surveys estimated its readership at 50,000+ in the mid 1990s, and it has certainly grown since then. I have a "scholarly" approach to the groups, which makes me better suited to documentary and archival work, rather than writing per se. The profession in which I work involves much writing of an advanced nature (yes it's in the legal field), but totally devoid of the creative wealth found on ASS/M - which is why I enjoy reading these groups. But I don't perticularly care for fan fiction so you have little chance of seeing any Star Trek or Wonder Woman stories here. I favor multi chapter, epic stories. All the classics of the genre. But anything goes so don't be surprised if I post something really different or extreme, you just never know. bramm_stein By sheer chance (;-) I stumbled upon asstr.org. I got reading, and I saved the stories I liked most. Before I knew it I was stuck with a small but nice collection.In my humble opinion I find reading a plain textfile a bit of a turn-off. So I turn these stories into nice book lay-outs. I save them in Adobe PDF format because virtually everybody can still read it.If you mix those two together you'll get a nice ebook.
